No, conservatives cannot be revolutionaries, which is why John Adams was a republican, not a conservative. Time to give up the convenient dodge of being a conservative above the nasty, dirty business of politics. (Or, if you insist on being a conservative, the best defense is a good offense.) There is nothing in this world that is permanent and does not require a constant refreshment by the infusion of permanent things. The Democrat party has fought every day for the transformation of our Republic into a mere democracy by removing permanent things. The Republican party is the political vessel with which we fight this war.
