Even if Judge Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed to the Supreme Court, where in history is there any evidence that the Supreme Court, even with substantial majorities of Republican-appointed justices, will do anymore than provide a speed-bump to the Democrat assault on our Republic? The Court’s Dredd Scott made Civil War inevitable and imminent. Plessy v Ferguson protected Jim Crow. While Brown v. Board of Education struck down the South’s (and the Democrat’s) segregation of schools, it did so on the basis of sociology not the Constitution or Natural Rights. Mr. Brown complained that his daughter was forced to rides buses across town because of the color of her skin. What was the result of Brown? Millions of children being forced to ride buses across town because of the color their skin. Roe v Wade precipitated the murder of tens of millions of babies. Obergefell instituted depravity and undermined marriage and the family.
John Roberts claims to be concerned about the reputation of the court, but what reputation is that? If the Supreme Court were to actually stand up for the Constitution for any sustained period, it would be unprecedented. Keep in mind, though, if Judge Barrett is confirmed, the first cases the new court would rule on would not be published until next summer. If Democrats control both houses and the Presidency, they can do a lot more damage before the Supreme Court even hears a case. And even then, they simply need to overwhelm the courts with reams and reams of tyrannical legislation. The Obamacare bill was nearly 3,000 pages long. Did the Supreme Court or anyone else even consider striking down the law because it was 3,000 pages, because no legislator read it before voting for it, because Article 1 provides no authority for 99% of it, or because it empowers a fourth branch of government? Does anyone believe a single Supreme Court justice has read all 3,000 pages?
There is no reason for the Democrats to pack the court, except out of pique. The court has no history of stopping, let alone slowing, tyranny and there is no reason to believe it will start anytime soon.
