Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
First Amendment
Does the first amendment apply to a establishment of religion that rejects the free exercise of religion? Is such an entity even actually a religion? The first amendment is an application of the right of conscience, the responsibility and authority to discern what one ought to do. What is a belief system that rejects the exercise, or even existence, of one’s conscience and reason?
The First Amendment can only apply to religions that respect the free exercise of one’s conscience to seek the truth.
